Professor Monica Chiu from University of New Hampshire Lectured on Gene Yang’s Chinese American Shadow Hero

Professor Monica Chiu from University of New Hampshire gave a lecture on "the first Chinese Cartoonist Gene Luen Yang Works Comics Superhero --- Narrative Travels " on June 21 afternoon on Longquan Campus. Teachers and students from Visual Communication Design and  Chinese International Education departments attended the lecture, which is hosted by Professor Liao Simei.

    Professor Monica Chiu vividly introduced the principle of comic narrative, from different categories to various works, concerning Sino-US cross-cultural communication, the association of superhero culture and social reality. "Foreign sense" ,"discrimination" other words, are the very  hot issues of the international community.

    The students enthusiastically interacted with Monica and asked relevant questions. The lecture broadened their horizons and offered a new way to understand Asian American culture and comic art technique, which is special educational experience.
